The Blues have withdrawn their offer of a new deal to striker Shefki Kuqi. The out-of-contract Finnish international told the club last week that he would not be signing his new two-year deal and Town have ensured that he will be unable to change his mind about leaving Portman Road.

The Blues are in the running for the signature of Swindon Town striker Sam Parkin, according to Brighton chairman Dick Knight. The Albion chief says that his club has little chance of signing Parkin now that Town and Norwich are showing interest in the former Chelsea trainee.

Boss Joe Royle says moves towards bringing in new players are going well, although it appears no signings are imminent. Royle also says that the club's promising youngsters will be given their chance if they show they are up to senior football.

Out-of-contract pair Tommy Miller and Shefki Kuqi have left the club. Miller will sign a two-year deal with Sunderland, while Kuqi looks set to join Blackburn Rovers.

Joe Royle says that three clubs are currently in the race to sign striker Darren Bent. Charlton are understood to be the frontrunners and to have had a bid for £3.2 million turned down last week.

Town fought back from two down to draw 2-2 at West Ham, perfectly setting up Wednesday's Portman Road leg. Two goals in the opening 13 minutes put the Hammers in front but Tommy Miller's freekick just before the break went in off keeper James Walker and Shefki Kuqi equalised in the second period.
